چکیده

Background Myocardial oedema is a consequence of injury during ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). T2 weighted short tau inversion recovery (T2w STIR) is widely used for oedema assessment on CMR. No consensus exits for which threshold/ contouring method should be used for the quantification of the area of myocardial oedema as a surrogate endpoint in clinical trials. This study investigates the interand intraobserver and interscan reproducibility of 7 techniques in use for oedema assessment (2 SD, 3 SD, 5 SD, FWHM, Otsu, manual threshold and manual contouring). The aim was to determine the most robust method for the quantification of myocardial oedema STEMI.

Quantification of infarct size and myocardium at risk: evaluation of different techniques and its implications

AIMS The aim of this study was to evaluate seven methods for quantifying myocardial oedema [2 standard deviation (SD), 3 SD, 5 SD, full width at half maximum (FWHM), Otsu method, manual thresholding, and manual contouring] from T2-weighted short tau inversion recovery (T2w STIR) and also to reassess these same seven methods for quantifying acute infarct size following ST-segment myocardial infa...

Evaluation of ejection fraction in patients with acute myocardial infarction undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention

Introduction: Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is a reperfusion strategy to increase life expectancy and ejection fraction (EF) in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients. We investigated the effect of location, severity, type of lesion, number and type of vessel involved and time of angioplasty on the increase in EF in STEMI patients undergoing primary PCI (P-PCI) a...

New "gold standard" for assessing myocardial oedema in STEMI?

Background The current “gold standard” CMR sequence for assessing myocardial oedema following STEMI is controversial. T2 Short-Tau Inversion Recovery (T2-STIR) is in widespread clinical use but can lack robustness. Steady state free precession oedema imaging (SSFP/ACUT2E) has emerging data to support it as a more reproducible method for oedema assessment. A novel T2 mapping method is also avail...

Vitamin D deficiency predicts the ST elevation type of myocardial infarction in patients with acute coronary syndrome.

According to studies, a significant association exists between the low levels of vitamin D and cardiovascular diseases such as myocardial infarction (MI). In a prospective, case control study, 88 patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) including ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and Non-STEMI were enrolled. The plasma level of 25-hydroxy vitamin D[25(OH)D] was obtained at the time ...

The Role of Pre-hospital and Hospital Emergency system in Ischemic Time Management of Acute Myocardial Infarction Patients: A Review

According to the latest guidelines, the best intervention to restore blood flow through occluded coronary arteries is angioplasty at a time less than 90 minutes. Delay in timely implementation of reperfusion is one of the key issues in the management of ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). In this review study, papers published from 1999-2019 were used to investigate Role of Pre-hospital...
